Re: When Can Chicks Start Eating Sunflower Seeds and Other Treats?
While chicks can start having small treats early, sunflower seeds are best introduced after 6 weeks. I find that younger chicks struggle with digestion if they don't have grit, so it's crucial to provide it if you start early. Re: Should I Bandage My Chickens Injured Toe?
My 4-month-old Easter Egger lost a toenail, and the exposed quick keeps getting bumped and bleeding. Ive been cleaning it and using Vetericyn and styptic gel but didnt bandage it, thinking it might hinder her walking or roosting. After a few days, she re-injured it, so now Im second-guessing ...

Re: Is My Mulch Safe for Deep Litter?
We use the deep litter method in our coop and recently started adding fresh wood chips from a local arborist. Most of the chips were maple with green leaves, so weve let them dry before use.
Recently, we dug into the center of the pileit was bone dry and smelled sweet and earthy, likely from ...

Funny how they get so attached! If she's safe and the pot is easy to clean, I'd just let her be. No harm in letting her have her favorite spot!
