Ive been introducing a variety of treats to my chicks, but Im wondering about sunflower seeds specifically. I still have a bunch left to give them, but Im unsure if theyre old enough yet. I dont want to introduce something too early that might be hard for them to digest.

I had the same issue last year! I thought eggshells would be enough, but my hens started laying weird, thin eggs. Adding oyster shell made a huge difference. Lesson learned!

Ive heard a lot about backyard poultry being great for keeping bugs in check, and Im curious about everyones experiences!
Do you let your flock free-range in your garden or yard to help control pests like grasshoppers, beetles, or slugs?
Have you noticed a big difference in pest populations?

Yesterday was an exciting daymy Australorp laid her very first egg! I found her inside an old, large pot, looking a bit awkward. Thinking she was stuck, I gently lifted her out, and to my surprise, she laid the egg right there on the ground before wandering off like nothing happened.

Im considering using grass clippings as bedding for my chickens. Since rain isnt a big issue and Id clean it out regularly, would this work? In the winter, I plan to switch to hay, but Im wondering if grass clippings are a safe and cost-effective option. Has anyone tried this?
