Re: Ensuring Chicken Safety While on Vacation Advice Needed!
I'd make sure their automatic door closes a bit earlier than usual. That way, no stragglers get caught outside when the raccoons start coming out.

Re: Worming a Large Mixed Flock Routine or Only When Needed?
Some people use pumpkin seeds and diatomaceous earth as natural worm preventatives, but I prefer chemical dewormers when I see signs of trouble.

Re: Can Slightly Chlorinated Water Improve Hatch Rates?
I wouldn't risk it. Even a little chlorine could irritate embryos or chicks as they hatch. Maybe look into using electrolyzed water (EO water) instead,it's safe and has antibacterial properties.

Re: Aggressive Quail Hen Acting Like a Rooster?!
A friend of mine has a quail hen with an attitude like Ive never seen before! She acts just like a roosterpuffing up, charging at anyone who comes near, and trying to peck through the cage bars. But heres the weird part: she only attacks humans, never her flockmates. She lives with two other hens ...

Re: Hen Lethargic with Bloody Droppings
I'm really worried about my hen and could use some advice. She has been acting lethargic all day, standing in one spot, looking fluffed up, and not engaging much with the rest of the flock. She is usually active and alert, so this is a big change in behavior.

Re: Hens Face Is Swelling, What Should I Do?
If she's acting normal aside from the swelling, you might have time to treat it at home. Try a saline rinse in the nostril, warm compresses, and oral antibiotics. If she's lethargic or the swelling worsens, she may need a vet for drainage.

Re: Desperate for Help My Rooster Wont Stop Attacking Me!
Im at my wits end with my rooster and need serious advice. He has attacked me multiple times, often violently, to the point of injury. Its gotten so bad that he actually waits outside my car and ambushes me as soon as I step out. He chases me to the door and attacks from behind, and he has no ...

Re: How Can I Tell the Age of a Chicken?
Older chickens might slow down, take longer molting, and have thicker leg scales. Watching their energy levels and posture can offer additional insight.
