Do you have roosters in the flock? If she was accidentally overbred, she could have sustained an injury that led to the vent trauma. Keep an eye on her for infection.

If you breed both roosters to the same hens, you might see a mix of white, red, and crested/non-crested chicks. Keeping track of which rooster fathers which chick would be a fun genetics experiment!

From what I've read, mottling is a recessive trait that doesn't always express well in every bird. Some birds show heavy mottling early, while others stay mostly black their whole lives.
