Best Automatic Coop Door Recommendations?

Post by RootedSoul »

Hi all,

Our coop is inside the run, and we manually open/close the door daily. I'd love an automatic system so they can head out earlier in the morning.

There are so many optionswhats the best one thats reliable, easy to install, and budget-friendly?

Any recommendations?

We installed an automatic door, and it's been amazing! The chickens love having early access to the run, and we get to sleep in.

My hens adjusted to the automatic door quickly. If yours are hesitant, try propping it open for a few days so they get used to it.

If you want flexibility, go for a door with both a timer and a light sensor. My Omlet Autodoor adjusts based on daylight, but I can also set specific times. It's reliable even in bad weather, and the battery lasts forever. Just make sure your coop has enough clearance for the door to slide properly, some people have issues if their setup is tight. Overall, it's a great investment!

I love my automatic coop door! It lets my chickens out early and keeps them safe at night.

Automatic coop doors are a lifesaver! I installed the Run-Chicken door last year, and it's been working perfectly. It runs on batteries, is waterproof, and has a light sensor. My chickens are out at sunrise and safely locked in at dusk without me having to do anything. If you're worried about installation, don't be! It was super easy, and I didn't need any special tools. Totally worth it for peace of mind and extra sleep!

Timer-based doors are reliable! No more waking up early just to let the flock out.
