They might just be preening, but if you notice excessive feather loss or irritated skin, it could be pests. Check for dark specks or moving bugs on their skin to determine if it's lice.

If your chickens are scratching and pecking excessively, it could be lice or mites. Look closely at their skin for tiny red spots or insects moving around. A mite treatment like Permethrin spray might work for relief.
