I would be cautious with products like "Over 'n Out" because many of those are chemically based and can be harmful to chickens, especially if they peck around treated areas. I recommend using natural alternatives like nematodes (microscopic worms that kill ants) or diatomaceous earth as mentioned. It's safer for your flock.

You could also try using fire ant traps that are safe for pets and chickens. There are traps on the market that won't harm your chickens, but they still attract and kill fire ants. They're an easy solution for those who need something low-maintenance.

Have you considered using natural fire ant deterrents, such as a mix of boiling water and salt? It's non-toxic to chickens and works pretty well on mounds. You can also try sprinkling some cinnamon or coffee grounds around the fire ant colonies, as they don't like those, and it's chicken-friendly!

I use a product called diatomaceous earth for fire ants. It's safe for chickens and helps control the population of pests like ants. You can sprinkle it around their free-range area, and the chickens won't be harmed by it. Just make sure to use food-grade diatomaceous earth, not the kind for pools.
