If you do offer treats, make sure it's only a tiny portion of their diet, too much can unbalance their nutrition. They need all the nutrients in chick starter to grow strong!

Id love to give them a little treat, but Im unsure whats safe for them at this age. I have other birds and was wondering if something like crushed parakeet seed would be okay, or if theres a better option.

What do you all recommend for young chicks as their first treats?

If you're set on giving them something extra, finely ground oats mixed with warm water can be a good treat. Just make sure they don't fill up on it instead of their starter!

Be careful with treats too early,it can make them picky eaters later on! I wait at least two weeks before offering anything beyond their normal feed.

I wouldn't give them parakeet seed just yet,it might be too hard and could cause digestive issues. Try a little finely crumbled chick starter as a "treat" instead.
