Backyard Fowl Keepers

Hi all,

Im planning to fence off around half an acre for my poultry but cant decide on the best fencing option. My initial plan was to use 2m high green chain link with electric wire at the top and bottom, plus chicken wire dug in to deter diggers. However, my brother suggested using only electric wire, spaced every 10cm up to 2m, as a more cost-effective option.

Would a purely electric strand fence be enough to keep out badgers, foxes, and wild boar? Has anyone had success with this method, or should I stick with the chain link for better security?

Electric fences work best when animals are trained to avoid them. Wild predators might test weak spots, so a solid barrier plus electric is safest.
