I always hear about the best chicken breeds, but what are the worst breeds you've owned?
Mine is the Welsummer: too skittish and loud.

I'd love to hear your experiences!

The Anconas were way too noisy for me. They constantly squawked, even when everything was fine. My neighbors started to complain, so I had to let them go.

Silkies are adorable.
But I was disappointed with how few eggs they laid.
They were more of a novelty than a productive part of my flock.
Not worth it for me.

I tried raising Gamefowl once:

I thought they’d be a fun addition to my flock.
I quickly learned they were way more aggressive than I expected. The roosters were constantly squaring up to each other, and even the hens had an attitude. One in particular would chase my other chickens away from the feed, no matter how much space I gave them.

My Marans looked beautiful, and their eggs were stunning, but the hens were so aggressive! I couldn’t believe how often they picked fights with the rest of the flock.

Polish chickens are fun to look at, but their fancy feathers made them easy targets for predators. I lost two to hawks before I decided not to get any more.

Hamburgs were escape artists in my flock. No matter how secure the run was, they found a way out. I spent way too much time chasing them back into the yard.

Leghorns are great layers, but I can't handle how flighty they are. Every time I went into the coop, they acted like I was trying to catch them. Definitely not a calm breed.

My Orpingtons were beautiful, but they were constantly broody! They wouldn't leave the nesting boxes, even when there were no eggs. It became a huge hassle.

I agree! My Rhode Island Reds were super aggressive toward the other hens, especially at feeding time. They even pecked the roosters! I had to rehome them to keep the peace.
