Is This Normal for Rooster Acting Aggressive in the Morning?

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else experiences this with their rooster. Ours seems to go on a rampage first thing in the morning as soon as he gets down from the perch. We have 12 hens and 1 rooster, and they have over an acre to free-range, so space isnt an issue.
For about 10 minutes, hes chasing the hens around, grabbing them, and being pretty rough until they stand still and let him mate with them. After that, he calms down and goes back to being his usual gentlemanly self.
Is this normal rooster behavior, or should I be concerned?
Thanks for any advice!
