Re: Help! Late Chicken Egg Still Has Blood Vessels
Chicks can take longer to hatch. If blood is present, it's not done absorbing nutrients yet.

Re: Whats the Most Unexpected Benefit Your Flock Has Brought to Your Garden?
I never expected my flock to help so much with weed control, but it's been a game-changer. I let my chickens patrol the walkways and the outer edges of my garden, and they keep those areas almost entirely weed-free. They eat the young sprouts before they have a chance to take over, and their ...

Re: Aggressive Quail Hen Acting Like a Rooster?!
If she's not attacking other quail, she might just see humans as intruders. Try spending more time near the cage without reaching in, letting her get used to your presence. If she's food-motivated, offering treats might help change her reaction to people.

Re: How Many Chickens Can I Keep in My Coop? Need Advice!
It sounds like your chickens will have plenty of space! I'd start with the 4, and if everything is working well, you can always consider adding a couple more. Just be mindful of overcrowding inside the coop.

Re: Why is My Hen Laying Tiny Eggs After Winter?
Smaller eggs are pretty common when hens start laying again after a break. They might not have fully adjusted to the new season or may just be warming up to full egg production. I wouldn't stress about it unless the problem continues for weeks.

Re: What Happens If Chickens Eat Too Many Fly Larvae?
If it was just a one-time thing, the chickens should be okay. But if this happens regularly, you could see them putting on weight or becoming sluggish. Keep an eye on their activity levels and their poop, those are usually good indicators of how they're doing.

Re: Help with Integrating a Chicken Back into the Flock After Bullying
I had a similar problem with a hen in my flock. What worked for me was locking her in the coop with the others for a full day when I knew they wouldn't be able to escape, like when I was home and could monitor. That way, they had to deal with her presence and she couldn't avoid them. The bullying ...

Re: What Are Your Chickens' Favorite Garden Scraps?
I've found that my chickens love the stems of broccoli! They also enjoy turnip greens, which are another great garden scrap. If you have any of those around, try offering them to your girls.
