How Much Space Do Chickens Really Need in the Coop and Run?

Re: Is Rice Safe for Chickens? Cooked vs. Uncooked

I've raised chickens for years, and rice has never caused any issues in my flock. I do find that brown rice is a better option than white, as it has more fiber and nutrients. Re: Keeping the Boys Can a Bachelor Flock Work?

Rooster personalities vary, but if they're used to each other and there's no direct access to hens, they have a much better chance of coexisting peacefully. 214 Tatlı sounds too aggressive for a multi-rooster setup. Rehoming might be best before he seriously injures another bird.

Ive used the same standard chick waterer for multiple broods without issues, but this time my 4-day-old chicks keep ending up soaked! The waterer is upright but completely empty, and I cant figure out how theyre spilling it. Its happened four times now! I even tried switching containers and taping ...

Yes! Both breeds are docile. Just ensure the Silkies aren't pushed around during feeding time.

Re: Advice Needed for Keeping the Chicken Run Smell Under Control!

Have you tried apple cider vinegar in their water? It helps with digestion, which can make their poop a little less smelly. Just a tablespoon per gallon is enough.

Re: Help with Integrating a Chicken Back into the Flock After Bullying

Your approach seems pretty solid, but one thing that can sometimes help is putting the Leghorn and one of the more docile chickens in a small area together while the other flock members roam outside the coop for a while. This gives her the chance to reintroduce herself with less pressure, while ...

Re: Which Chicken Breeds Start Laying the Earliest?

I had a mixed flock, and my Easter Eggers actually surprised me by starting to lay around 18 weeks. They weren’t the absolute earliest, but the excitement of getting different colored eggs made the wait worth it. If you want variety and early eggs, they’re a fun choice!
