Some quail hens naturally take on a more dominant role, especially if the male is more passive. She may see herself as the protector of the group. If she only targets humans, she could view you as a potential threat. Try offering food from your hand to see if she softens up.

Since they're inside, avoid anything too dusty. Try a mixture of dry soil and fine-grain sand in a shallow dish. It's simple and effective!

You can DIY a cupola with some basic materials! I built one using a vented roof cap and some scrap wood, and it works great for extra airflow without breaking the bank.

I've heard that if you use a natural fire ant killer like diatomaceous earth, it helps control the problem over time. Make sure to apply it in dry weather so the chickens can still roam freely without the dust getting into their feathers or eyes.
