Adding vents above the roosts is a great idea! Aim for at least 1 square foot of vent space per 10 square feet of coop area to ensure proper airflow.

Since your coop is open-air, consider adding adjustable vents so you can control airflow during colder months.

In a sloped space, ensure the vents are on the uphill side to prevent water from running into the coop during rain.

Make sure the vents are covered with 1/4-inch hardware cloth to keep out even the smallest predators like weasels.

For ventilation, think about adding a ridge vent along the peak of the roof. It's effective and out of reach for most predators.
