Counting Down to Spring Hatch Excited for These Breeds!

Post by EggSentinel »

I cant wait for my upcoming spring hatchdefinitely need something to look forward to during this long, cold winter!

Ive ordered:
- 8 Cream Legbars (breeder specializes in cream, but also has some opal and crele lines)
- 6 Mosaics
- 5 Swedish Flower Hens
- 7 Marans (could be black, blue, or splashwaiting to see what I get!)

Right now, my flock consists of Isbars, French Black Copper Marans, and some mixed-breed hens with fun egg colors. My current girls came from a small farm working toward purebred lines, but these new hatching eggs are from a well-established breeder with great reviews.

Id love to hear from anyone who has experience with these breeds! How has your hatch rate been? Any favorite personality traits or challenges? Im just excited to see how this mix turns out!

Hatch days are the best! I hope you get a great hatch rate and some beautiful color variations from your Marans and Legbars.

Mosaics are such a cool breed! Their feather coloring is so unique, and they have the sweetest personalities. Can't wait to hear how yours turn out!

Hatching from a reputable breeder is always a good choice. It'll be exciting to see what colors you get from the Marans and Legbars!

Your Marans will be so fun to watch grow! I had a surprise mix of black, blue, and splash, and they all turned out stunning.

I love that you're getting Cream Legbars! They're excellent layers, and the blue eggs are always a fun addition to the basket. I've noticed that they can be a bit skittish as chicks but grow into really inquisitive birds. If you handle them regularly, they'll warm up to you quickly. Also, be prepared for their chatty nature, they always have something to say! Hatch rates have been solid for me with them, and they tend to be robust little chicks right out of the shell.

I bet your Mosaics will be the flashiest birds in your flock! They have such unpredictable but beautiful feathering as they grow.

Cream Legbars are awesome layers! Mine started early and haven't stopped since. You're in for some beautiful blue eggs.

Sounds like you'll have a rainbow of eggs once they all start laying! If your Marans hatch out with a mix of black, blue, and splash, it'll be so fun watching them develop. I've had the best luck brooding different breeds together, but sometimes the Legbars can be a little bossy as chicks. Keep an eye on them early on, and they should all grow up to be a fantastic flock.
