What plants survive inside a chicken run without getting destroyed?

Post by DownyExplorer »

Hey everyone! Im trying to add a little greenery to my chicken run, but we all know how destructive chickens can be when it comes to plants. Are there any plants that can actually survive in a run without getting completely eaten or scratched to bits? Im thinking about plants that are either tough enough to withstand chickens or ones they tend to leave alone.

Bonus points if they provide some shade or benefit the flock! Let me know whats worked (or hasnt) in your experience.

Thanks!

If you want shade and durability, try planting a small fruit tree protected by a wire cage around the base. Chickens enjoy fallen fruit, and the tree stays safe.
