It's really hit or miss with grafting chicks onto a broody hen. I've found that hens who have never raised chicks are sometimes not as keen, so it might take a second attempt. Try doing it in the middle of the night and make sure she's calm and not stressed out.

I tried introducing chicks to a first-time broody once, and it took three attempts before she finally accepted them! Be patient, and don't give up after one try. The nighttime method is probably your best bet, and if she doesn't seem to be bonding, I'd recommend removing the chicks and keeping them in the brooder.

In my experience, broodies can be quite unpredictable when it comes to adopting chicks. If she rejected them once, I'd try again, especially at night. But make sure to keep a close eye on the chicks. If she's aggressive again, it's better to just keep them in the brooder for their safety.
