Re: Concern Over Chicken Walking Oddly After Pooping. Could It Be Constipation?
From my experience, it seems like the combination of stress and a potential digestive issue caused her symptoms. She could have been constipated, but the large poop and her subsequent return to normal behavior suggest she was just clearing things out. Make sure she's getting a good mix of fiber, greens, and fresh water to prevent constipation. Adding a bit of probiotics to her diet might also help keep her gut healthy and prevent any future issues. Keep an eye on her, and hopefully, everything will stay normal.

I've had a similar issue with a chicken of mine who developed some strange walking patterns, and after a good soak and rest, she was fine. I also think that the wing injury could have been part of the issue, stress and pain can certainly cause changes in movement. As far as constipation, yes, chickens can get constipated, but it's usually linked to diet or stress. Make sure she's getting enough fiber, and offering her some scrambled eggs or oats can help get her back to normal.

I've had a hen act like this before, and it was related to both stress from over-mating and a slight digestive issue. The large poop could have been a sign that her system was clearing out. For constipation, offering high-fiber foods like kale or cabbage can help. I also make sure my hens have access to a sand box for grit, as that can aid in digestion and prevent issues. It seems like you've done everything right, so just keep an eye on her for any future signs of trouble.

It's great that you're paying attention to your hen's health so closely! I think she could've been experiencing a bit of constipation or stress from the rooster's over-mating. You've taken great steps with soaking and trimming her wings. As for preventing constipation, ensuring a balanced diet with enough grit for digestion, along with regular fresh water, can help. Keep an eye on her behavior and poops, and if it happens again, you may want to try adding some olive oil to her diet to help keep things moving.
