I've seen this with my flock as well. The first few eggs after a break can be small, and then they gradually get bigger as they get back into the swing of things. If the tiny eggs keep coming, though, you might want to check her diet or consider adding extra calcium to her feed.

Sometimes hens lay small eggs at the beginning of their laying cycle after a break. It's like their body's way of warming up. As long as she seems healthy and active, it's likely nothing to worry about. However, if the small eggs don't stop after a few weeks, it could be worth a vet check.

One of my hens kept laying eggs throughout the winter, while the others gradually stopped. Recently, though, one of the other hens has started laying again after a break and has laid three eggs so far. The strange thing is that these eggs are all quite small, much smaller than the usual eggs she laid before.
I'm wondering if I should be concerned if this continues. I know hens can lay smaller eggs from time to time, but it feels odd for it to happen so consistently.
Should I be worried or is this just something normal for the time of year?
It's not uncommon for hens to lay smaller eggs after a break in laying, especially after winter. Their bodies might be adjusting to the change in season. As long as she is otherwise healthy, I wouldn't worry too much. However, if it continues for several weeks or if you notice other signs of distress, it could be worth checking in with a vet.

It sounds like a normal adjustment. Sometimes when hens resume laying after a break, the first eggs are smaller. If the tiny eggs persist for a long time or if she starts showing signs of illness, then it might be a sign to look deeper into her health, but for now, I wouldn't be overly concerned.
