Concerned About Humidity Drop During Incubation: Should I Be Worried?
Hi everyone, Im looking for some advice. I was away for 8 hours today and checked the humidity before I left; it was at 63%. I also made sure the water reservoir was full. However, when I came home, I found the humidity had dropped to 47%. There was no pipping yet, but I raised the humidity back up to where it should be. Im wondering if that few hours at a lower humidity, especially towards the end of day 20, could cause any issues for the eggs. Should I be concerned? Thanks for any advice!

If it was just a short period of time, I wouldnt be too worried. You took action quickly to raise the humidity, and that should help. If the humidity continues to stay stable, your eggs should still be okay. Just keep an eye on the incubator closely in the next couple of days.

I would suggest keeping a close eye on the humidity levels for the rest of the incubation. While the short dip shouldnt cause significant problems, if you notice any further fluctuations, it could affect the hatch rate, especially later on. Just keep monitoring carefully.

I wouldnt be too concerned with the drop at the tail end of day 20. The eggs are pretty resilient at that point. Just keep the humidity steady now and make sure everything else is in order. As long as youre monitoring things closely, youll likely have a good hatch!
Re: Concerned About Humidity Drop During Incubation: Should I Be Worried?
The humidity levels can fluctuate a little without too much issue, but since it dropped so low at the end of day 20, its important to keep it stable now. If you dont see pipping soon, it could indicate a problem, but the drop itself shouldn't be an immediate concern.

Re: Concerned About Humidity Drop During Incubation: Should I Be Worried?
I've had a few issues with humidity dropping and hatching was still successful. The fact that there's no pipping yet is good news. You've done the right thing by raising the humidity again, so keep monitoring it, and it should be fine moving forward.

As long as it was just for a short time, I wouldn't be overly concerned, but do keep the humidity levels stable now. The eggs can still hatch even with some fluctuation, but keeping everything as consistent as possible from here on out is crucial.

I wouldn't worry too much about the drop as long as it was just for a few hours. Humidity levels can vary in the final days, and it's the overall trend that matters more. Just make sure it doesn't dip again and stay on top of it for the remainder of the incubation!
People who count their chickens before they are hatched act very wisely because chickens run about so absurdly that it's impossible to count them accurately.

It's good that you noticed the drop and corrected it. I've had some fluctuation with humidity near hatching time, and things turned out fine. Just make sure you continue to monitor it closely until hatching is complete. If pipping doesn't start soon, then it may be worth double-checking everything.
Re: Concerned About Humidity Drop During Incubation: Should I Be Worried?
It's great that you caught the humidity drop quickly and raised it again! I think the short period at 47% should be fine, especially since there was no pipping yet. I've read that fluctuations happen, but as long as the humidity is stable now, they should be okay.
