How often do you clean your chicken run, and whats your routine?

Post by DownyExplorer »

Hey everyone,

Im curious how often do you all clean your chicken run, and whats your cleaning routine like? I know everyones setup and flock size is different, so Id love to hear what works for you.

Do you do quick spot cleans daily, a deep clean weekly, or something else? What kind of bedding or ground cover do you use, and how often do you replace it? Any tips for keeping things tidy and odor-free?

Also, if youve got any favorite tools or tricks that make the job easier, Im all ears!

Thanks in advance cant wait to hear your advice!

My flock is free-range most of the day, so my run stays relatively clean. I do a weekly rake-through and add fresh bedding when needed. For ground cover, I use a mix of sand and gravel, which drains well and prevents muddy areas. Every few months, I do a deep clean, removing any compacted material and adding fresh layers. A little apple cider vinegar in the waterers also helps keep everything fresh!
