One box per 4 hens is the general rule. So for 12 hens, three boxes should work well!

Incubators are great if you want high-volume hatching, but broody hens provide better socialization and mothering.

If your chickens are scratching and pecking excessively, it could be lice or mites. Look closely at their skin for tiny red spots or insects moving around. A mite treatment like Permethrin spray might work for relief.

Storing eggs too warm can speed up embryo development, which might explain your issue. Try cooler storage next time, but keep going with these!

Ive raised chicks before, but this year, Im adding ducklings to the mix! I know they should have separate brooders since ducklings are so messybut is that really necessary? And once theyre big enough, can I just move them into the same pen together?

I actually hatched two chicks from a grocery store carton once! Just incubate them like normal, keep humidity stable, and candle them on day 7. You never know what might happen!

I'd be cautious! Some paints contain VOCs (volatile organic compounds) that can be harmful to chickens. If the British 4 Seasons paint is low-VOC and fully dried, it should be fine.
